Calabar High: Rugby League National U14 Champions 2016

Calabar High were crowned national U14 champions for the first time after battling to a 16-12 win over favourites St. Catherine High School, at the Albion Football Ground in Spanish Town.

Calabar got off to a roaring start when Jaeden Simpson and Nathaniel Needham ran in tries during the first five minutes, and Jamar Miller added a third just before half time to give them a commanding 12 point lead at the break. St. Catherine found their spark early in the second half when Corey Walters and Davian Bailey scored two quick tries to set up a tense finale. Calabar’s Jamaree Johnson was next to score to extend the underdogs’ lead and Bailey crossed for his second for St. Catherine as the final whistle sounded. Calabar’s captain Justin Lyn was named MVP.
